Recordist's notes
This is the sound of the Kennet Morris Men singing what is known as the "Reading Carol" AKA sumer is icumen in. The piece is a canon for several voices that dates from the mid-thirteenth century and survives in a manuscript from Reading Abbey. It celebrates the incoming summer. It celebrates the sounds of summer and singing it on the 1st of May has become something of a tradition amongst this Morris Side.
