Recordist's notes
We were in need of breakfast and the High Street was heaving with people and a very busy market. We stepped into the first place we saw advertising a breakfast and discovered to our delight that it had a huge back garden full of tables, sunlight and sparrows. A large building to the right had holes beneath the tiles in which the sparrows were either nesting or finding tasty treats to eat! Little speakers disseminated Spanish music into the garden and this mixed nicely with the little clinks and clanks of cups of coffee and spoons and wee jugs of cream. You can also hear the low background drone of traffic on the encircling roads. But up front and centre are the sparrows who flew back and forth while we had our breakfast and filled the air with their wondrous and busy little sounds.
