Recordist's notes
In January 2014, Jacksons of Reading ceased trading and held an auction to sell off all the assets of the family-owned department store. It was a momentous, sad, historic occasion and involved opening the entire building up so that people could see all the items for sale on the evening before the auction. The whole building was opened up in ways it never previously had been, and I was able to record some of the sounds of the old furniture of Jacksons of Reading, such as these old wooden tills with bells inside.
