Recordist's notes
It is a hot blue sunny Sunday 27 degC. People relax in the heat, taking it easy in their gardens. Traffic is light. I am in the attic in a creaky chair. The skylight is wide open, grateful for the small breeze, as gangs of young swifts rocket past, super fast, very close, screaming across the tiles, through gaps between houses and then high into the air, wind rushing though their wing feathers. Am envious, it looks and sounds fantastic fun. Later a goldfinch sings a little from the old TV aerial and distant pigeons coo.
