Recordist's notes
After staying near near zero for much of March, temperatures rose a few days ago and are sometimes hitting 17C. Consequently the breeding season bird song has taken off in profusion. Riddenhaussen lakes are rich in wildlife, so the choruses here - dawn, evening and between - are impressive. Geese fly around in earsplitting groups, coot are very vocal out on the water. The lakes are surrounded by wet forests full of woodland species including robins, starlings, thrushes, woodpeckers, nuthatches, tits, chaffinches. Several chiffchaffs, the first warbler to sing in the year, can be heard. These recordings were made from an audio stream set up at the lakeside location. It ran for approximately 24hrs.
